Sarah Ferguson caught attempting sell access

Sarah Ferguson has been found to have attempted to sell an undercover reporter posing as a businessman access to her former husband, Prince Andrew the Duke of York, for half a million pounds. (That’s around three-quarters of a million dollars, give or take.) The Duchess has been in and out of money trouble, and she apparently was willing to potentially put the father of her children at risk to get out of it. Across the pond in the former colonies, she has quite the following, but she has long been the black sheep of the royals in Britain.

Another bust for Sarah Ferguson

Sarah Ferguson was trying to get some debt relief in an illicit manner, and was caught by a News of the World sting. She met with a reporter, posing as a businessman, and told him that she would open doors and get exclusive access to Prince Andrew for half a million pounds. According to The Guardian, the reporter in question is Mahzer Mahmood, and whistleblowing is his stock-in-trade. A rookie mistake would have been preferable, and as blunders go, this was a big one.

Fergie is the fungus among us

Sarah Ferguson is not a stranger to getting busted by the press. She was photographed numerous times seeing other men socially during her marriage to Prince Andrew, prompting an unofficial blackball by the rest of the royalty. That aside, selling out the security of another person and the father of her children to boot is beyond reprehensible. Granted, it isn’t as harsh as the divorce settlements of Henry the 8th. (I am, I am.) Mahmood has stung several celebrities in similar circumstances, which makes this sting that much more comical.

The bigger they are

When people get desperate, they act contrary to their self interest in the long run. It doesn’t need to be said, but the dramas of British royalty really don’t matter. They should be paid no more mind than the Kennedy’s should, and not much at that. Some people get a job and tough out financial difficulties like the rest of us, and some people try to sell out their ex-spouse because they think they can get a payday out of it. Goes to show how low class the high class are.
